HELPING FAMILIES THRIVE
One of the primary goals of the Wayne County Family & Children First Council is to increase family stability. A priority has been placed on reducing the out of home/out of county placements of children. Efforts have been made to impact these placements, yet much work remains. Providing coordination across systems, protocols across systems, and services as alternatives to placements continue to be a challenge.
To reduce the unnecessary and/or inappropriate out of home placements of children, this project will:
Enhance inter-system coordination of services and sharing of resources
Facilitate access across systems to a range of diversion options
To promote earlier and more effective intervention with at-risk families
Success in achieving this goal will be evidenced by the following:
1. A reduction in the overall number of out of home placements.
2. Greater stability in foster care arrangements.
3. A shorter length of stay in residential treatment placements by stepping down to less restrictive alternatives.
