HELPING FAMILIES THRIVE
![]() |
Service Coordination in Wayne County builds upon the
strength of the Wayne County Family & Children First Council and
supports the mission to promote coordination and collaboration among
local government, not for profit organizations, businesses, and parents
for the benefit of Wayne County's children. Service Coordination is available for children and youth who may require the resources of more than two public systems (i.e. education, health, juvenile justice, etc.) |
Service Coordination in Wayne County is also a response to a statewide initiative where local Family & Children First Councils are required to work together to design and develop a better system for responding to the strengths and needs of children and families requiring more than one system of care.
The public agencies serving families and children and other Wayne County systems offer a broad range of mandated and discretionary services to families. Service Coordination includes:
A process for obtaining service coordination for a child
with the potential of or identified multiple needs, who is a resident of
Wayne County, Ohio and is between the ages of birth to 22.
A procedure for assessing the service needs of the family
of any child who is abused, neglected, dependent, unruly, or delinquent and
under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court or a child whose parent is
voluntarily seeking services.
A procedure for development of a Family Service Plan
designating service responsibilities among various state and local agencies
that provide services to children and their families, including children who
are abused, neglected, dependent, unruly, or delinquent and under the
jurisdiction of the juvenile court of a child whose parent are voluntarily
seeking services.
A dispute resolution process to serve as the process that
must be used first to resolve disputes among agencies represented on the
Council concerning the provision of services or funding for service to
eligible children.
Service Coordination builds on the county's strengths of existing cooperative efforts, but also identifies needed areas of improvement and agreed upon strategies for achieving an effective network of family strengthening services. The local Service Coordination participants share a common philosophy of working with families that emphasizes treating families with respect and acknowledging mutual responsibilities.
