SURVEY OF STUDENT RESOURCES AND ASSETS

The mission of the Wayne County Family and Children First Council is to promote coordination and collaboration among local government, non-profit organizations, businesses and parents for the benefit of Wayne County's children. In June 2000 the Family Council officially endorsed its asset building project being funded through its Child and Family Health Services (CFHS) grant. The Family Council and its CFHS program support projects that use an asset based approach to services for children and families. Many Wayne

In June 2000, the Wayne County Family & Children First Council adopted the Asset Building philosophy as a priority for all council programs.

County organizations and agencies have also adopted the asset building philosophy into their work plans. The Family & Children First Council has co-sponsored several workshops to help organizations, families, churches and workplaces further develop the assets approach.  The Family  & Children First Council continues to promote the use of developmental assets in all programs and funding opportunities. It is our hope that a commitment to asset building becomes a priority for every individual, every organization, and every community in Wayne County.

Report Summary

The Survey of Student Resources and Assets includes a report on both the Five Fundamental Resources developed by America's Promise and the Forty Developmental Assets of the Search Institute. It was administered in September and October 2000 to students in grades 6 through 9 at Dalton Local Schools in Dalton, Northwestern Schools in West Salem, Orrville City Schools in Orrville, Rittman Schools in Rittman, and Wooster City Schools in Wooster, OH. Standardized administration procedures were provided to school staff to enhance the quality of the data. To ensure anonymity, no names or identification numbers were used.
